Talking 3/18/12 WEST Fork of the beaver Creek

John Paul and myself our going to meet at 10AM on Steubenville Pike rd (also known as County Hwy 413) were it crosses the creek. There is a small park for a canoe launch there.
GPS- 40.695347,-80.76582

So we can paddle the West Fork of the Little Beaver Creek down to the state park.
Did this section last year, very pretty and mostly flat water with small ripples here and there.
This section is about 12 miles, but more than worth it.

Hope to see you out paddling

Default Sounds like fun!

I'll be joining you also.

Can someone who has paddled this section tell me whether this creek is muddy-bottom or rocky bottom? In other words, will I be scraping or not? Determines which boat I'll bring.

Thanks

I've never paddled this before, but my guess is that it is rocky and there will be some scraping.

Many thanks to Mike D for organizing a pick up trip down the West Fork of Little Beaver. It had been on my bucket list of rivers. Gage reading at the station below Grimm's bridge on the main stem was 4.13, just about minimum level for the West Fork, but it was still a very pleasant run on this little gem of a stream. Nice turnout of eight TCT folks and beautiful weather made for a perfect way to spend a Sunday.

I would also like to thank Mike for organizing this impromptu paddle! I'll try to post my pictures in the next day or so, including a shot of our fearless trip leader doing the hula hoop!
